How to save money on your wedding abroad

Image
Overseas weddings may look extravagant that getting away from it all could actually save you money, compared to getting spliced in the UK. According to Theweddingcommunity.com , around 16 per cent of first marriages now take place abroad in places such as Thailand, Cyprus, Turkey and Spain. This makes perfect sense in the current economic climate... having your wedding abroad gives you the perfect excuse to cut the guest list, keep things simple and have the peaceful, elegant, intimate and on-budget ceremony you desire. What's more you don't have to be a currency expert to squeeze a few extra hundred out of overseas transfers in the planning stage, plus an extra £50-£100 from your travel money. Suzi Dixon shows you how. Beat the bankers on international money transfers No doubt you have suppliers that need to be paid overseas and perhaps one big bill in particular with a hotel or wedding planner. Foreign exchange comparison site MyCurrencyTransfer.com will help you ...

What's the best way to pay for your dream wedding abroad?

Image
Your wedding day ranks as one of the most memorable and exciting days of your life and now more and more of us are choosing to leave the unreliable British weather behind in favour of a wedding overseas. This is hardly surprising when the average wedding abroad costs £6,000, compared to a staggering £22,000 in the UK. As wonderful as planning your dream wedding is, it's up there as one of the most stressful experiences you can have! So, once you have spent copious amounts of time researching your dream location, have chosen your colour scheme and made sure that warring relatives are seated at least one table apart, it’s down to the nitty gritty of paying your overseas venue and suppliers. An easy way to make those payments is to use an international money transfer service such as FTT Global. This ensures you have a reliable and cost-effective way to pay your invoices - and one less thing to worry about! Once you have registered with the company you can start making payment...

Reef Villa & Spa, Sri Lanka has achieved Gold Travelife status

Image
We're delighted to announce that our Sri Lanka wedding provider, Reef Villa & Spa , has achieved Gold Travelife status. In Sri Lanka there are only nine hotels who have achieved a Gold award and Reef is exceptionally proud to be one of them. On 29 July everything was examined by the Travelife auditor. They used a fine tooth comb to check everything from Reef's employment contracts and salary levels, to looking in their bins to check if they were separating waste. They checked: the flow rate of the showers if they had dual flush toilets if they had a staff handbook if they sourced their food locally if they encouraged their guests to explore outside of Reef how much water they used per room per night how many low energy lightbulbs they had did they minimise the use of chemicals All in all Reef had over 100 questions to answer relating to various areas of their business. So they're very pleased that they achieved gold and are still constantly striving...

Popular Italian Wedding Traditions

Image
Expert wedding planners, Monica Roma and Paola Cocchi from Leoeventi share some popular Italian wedding traditions. If you have decided to tie the knot in Italy, you may as well go all the way and get married the Italian way. This means that you can incorporate seamlessly into your Italian wedding day the most popular Italian traditions and this is always a nice touch for couples from abroad. Let’s see what are the most popular traditions, and which are the most Italian. First of all, favours. Here in Italy all couples will have favours made of “confetti”, which is the Italian word to describe our delicious sugar covered almonds that are specifically devoted to weddings, as they symbolize health, wealth, fertility, happiness and long life. They come in many different flavours and colours therefore they are easy to incorporate into the colour theme of the wedding. The so called “White Table” for example is a typical way to arrange a sampling of different “confetti” flavours i...

Elopements are New Eco-wedding Trend

Image
Ranch Rider, the riding holiday tour operator, has seen the flat economy give rise to a new wave of nuptials, a growing number of elopers booking destination weddings just for two. While cost is one of the major reasons for downsizing the Big Day the tour operator claims there are other factors behind the growing trend. Tony Daly, Managing Director of Ranch Rider, comments, “These days we’re all very aware of the effect we have on the environment, and removing the guest list makes marrying abroad a more eco-friendly way to tie the knot. While the majority of these weddings are planned it’s undoubtedly one of the most romantic ways to say, "I do" and couples don’t have the usual stress to contend with.” Ranch Rider also suggests that social networking has played a part in the trend with couples more likely to share photos and videos of important milestones in their lives on social media. Oklahoma’s Island Guest Ranch is one of the first ranches to pick up on the new f...
