Marryabroad.co.uk celebrates one millionth visitor
We are pleased to announce that marryabroad.co.uk celebrated its one millionth visitor in May, proving its continued popularity with couples looking to get married abroad.
A one-stop ideas and information portal for UK couples planning an overseas wedding, the site offers direct links to over 70 wedding planners, venues and honeymoon hotels in a wide range of exciting international destinations.
Now in its sixth year, we have recently expanded to include information, advice and wedding planners from countries as diverse as Egypt, Belize and Hawaii. With all this information clearly laid out in one place and easily searchable, the only difficult part is deciding which destination to pick!
Over the past six years the destination wedding industry has seen a rise of 27% in ceremonies abroad, with a corresponding 7% drop in UK weddings. And nowadays fewer than 1 in 10 UK couples say they would not like to attend a wedding abroad or get married abroad.*
As more couples choose to have the wedding they really want, rather than the wedding their relatives want them to have, the choice of countries available for non-resident weddings continues to grow. In 2010 Portugal removed the 30 day residency period to allow non-resident EU citizens to get married (non-EU citizens still have to be resident for 30 days), thereby giving an instant boost to the wedding industry in the country, and more countries may well follow suit.
Charlotte Hand from Marryabroad.co.uk said: “Reaching our millionth visitor is a very exciting time for us. We're delighted to provide couples with the details they need to make an informed decision as to where they'd like to get married.
“We have wedding planners on the site who can arrange ceremonies for all budgets, so there should be a planner for everyone, and visitors can always contact us directly if they have questions or would like any advice. We're looking forward to reaching our second millionth visitor even sooner!”
